Q7 - Learning after the preliminary task
Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
From the preliminary task I feel that I have learnt from the mistakes I have made in the preliminary task. I have also learnt a few more editing techniques and this is evident from the two pictures below.
As you can see from the music magazine we can see that it is more sophisticated and the editing does not have many mistakes on it whereas with the preliminary task there is an eerie glow on the models head. The development from the preliminary to the main task was quite an achievement as there is more balance to the magazine and has things split into different places.
Overall the editing of the magazine from the preliminary task was quite a big one and the development of the magazine is more balanced meaning that it is more appealing and has a lot more to offer the reader who is going to read it.
Q5 - Attracting/addressing my audience
How did you attract/address your audience?
Grimey waves as a magazine has attracted its audience through various ways. For example from the interviews which the results were on the blog it shows that colour was very important and is considered to be one of the most important factors when looking to buy a magazine. The language inside the magazine is more of a modern day slang and this would mean that it appeal far more to the readers as the language would connote coolness to them.
Certain phrases seen in the magazine are things like fam- which basically is a short term for family or a very good friend and the word gud which means good in by itself.
Certain magazines would have liked to use much more colloquial and more of a traditional English approach but Grimey waves has not done that instead it has embarked upon a different route and decided to use language that a modern day teenager would use as its target audience as they are seen to be interested in grime as some of the grime artists out there are still in there late teens and early 20’s.
I also used some of the audience feedback from my interview to decide how to attract my audience and allowed for some changes to the style of my magazine so that it could be read by both boys and girls that are interested in Grime as grime is mostly male dominated.
Overall the addressing of the audience was meant to be a balanced and more relaxed approach the language used in the magazine was one of which many modern day teenagers use and that is how I addressed the magazine.
